Milestone for “The Brick” in Hamburg-Ottensen: urban residential project with 101 units celebrates topping-out ceremony

Berlin/Munich/Hamburg, 20-06-2018. Topping-out ceremony for “The Brick”: The shell of the new residential building of UBM Development Deutschland GmbH and Antaris Projektentwicklung GmbH from Hamburg has been completed.

The ceremonial wreath has been raised, the residential project of UBM Development Deutschland GmbH and Antaris Projektentwicklung GmbH today celebrated its topping-out ceremony. It is the first project in the Hanseatic city for UBM Development Deutschland GmbH (formerly Münchner Grund Immobilien Bauträger GmbH). The striking new red brick development with dark loft-style lattice windows is scheduled for completion in mid-2019 and will house 101 apartments and 61 underground parking spaces. A mix of high-quality condominiums and low-rent housing is being constructed on a gross floor area of ​​around 8,395 square meters. The joint venture partners UBM Germany and Antaris developed the project in the project company Kühnehöfe Hamburg GmbH & Co. KG after they acquired part of the former production site of Carl Kühne KG in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld in the Altona district of Ottensen from HIH.

Urban and surrounded by life

With its modern loft architecture, inspired by the former industrial use, the Schützenstraße ensemble will comprise apartments with 1 to 4 rooms ranging in size from approximately 22 to 115 square meters. The building was designed by the architectural and planning office CAP Projektplan GmbH, a subsidiary of the Antaris Group.

The urban loft design style of the development matches the location of the residential project in the inner-city neighborhood. Located in Bahrenfeld, between the lively districts of Ottensen and Altona, the location combines cultural offerings with urban infrastructure.

The building has a large communal roof garden with playground equipment for children, raised beds for gardening and space to relax.

Many of the apartments offer individual retreats with private roof terraces, spacious balconies and loggias or terraces.

Quality of life for tenants and owners

Johannes Gerdelmann, Head of the Building Department in the Altona district, explains at the ceremony: “Projects of this kind, which include both rental and owned apartments, and which furthermore intergrate into the existing built environment with a clear architectural concept, enrich our district and add to its diversity.”

The marketing of The Brick is carried out by the new building sales of Grossmann & Berger. Over 90 percent of the residential units have already been sold.
