Dexcom leases 2,000 square meters at Timber Peak – first leasing success for Mainz’s first timber-hybrid high-rise

The diabetes management specialist Dexcom will be the first tenant to move into Timber Peak in Zollhafen Mainz – even before completion. Move-in is scheduled for spring 2026.

Mainz, 16.09.2025 – Even before its completion, Mainz’s first timber-hybrid high-rise has secured its first tenant: Dexcom, a global leader in medical technology, has signed a 10-year lease (with an option to extend) for approximately 2,000 square meters of office space at Timber Peak, the first timber-hybrid high-rise in Rhineland-Palatinate. This accounts for around 23 percent of the total rental space in the 40-meter-high building located at Zollhafen Mainz. “Timber Peak’s strategy is proving to be a complete success: an innovative tenant for the most innovative office building in the region,” says Bernhard Egert, Managing Director of UBM Development Germany.

Diabetes management meets sustainable building

For years, Dexcom has been transforming the lives of people with diabetes. The company develops continuous glucose monitoring systems and is one of the most important innovation drivers in diabetes management. Its systems continuously measure blood sugar without the need for fingersticks. For its new location on the Rhine, Dexcom has deliberately chosen a future-oriented building with a strong sustainability focus. “Moving into our new offices marks a significant step in the further development of our company. The modern working environment not only offers more space for collaboration and innovation but also reflects our ongoing growth and forward-looking mindset. I look forward to shaping this new chapter together with our team,” says Alexander Fröhlich, Managing Director of Dexcom Germany.

Timber construction stores 1,000 tons of CO

Timber Peak is being built as a timber-hybrid construction and is considered a flagship project for sustainable building in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since the topping-out ceremony in May, interior construction has been progressing at full speed. The facade has been completed, and fit-out is underway floor by floor. Construction is proceeding on schedule. Around 1,050 cubic meters of timber have already been used – storing approximately 1,000 tons of CO₂. This equals the annual emissions of a village with 125 people. The combination of photovoltaics, geothermal energy, and adiabatic cooling significantly reduces energy demand, and climate-neutral energy supply is possible through renewable electricity. Large window fronts bring daylight into the offices, while two landscaped terraces on the 5th and 12th floors enhance the quality of the workplace for employees. In total, 8,750 square meters of rental space are spread across twelve floors. Spaces can be divided starting from around 300 square meters – ideal for companies of different sizes. “Timber Peak combines everything that future-proof office buildings must deliver today: sustainable materials, innovative technology, and a strong concept for modern working,” says Bernhard Egert, Managing Director of UBM Development Germany.
