Münchner Grund awarded LEED Platinum for the first time

Berlin/Munich, 26-07-2016 The new office and retail building ARENA BOULEVARD in Berlin is the first project from Münchner Grund Immobilien Bauträger GmbH – a subsidiary of UBM Development AG – to receive the LEED Platinum certification.

The awarding of the LEED Platinum certification for ARENA BOULEVARD shows that the new office and commercial building, which is located near the Mercedes-Benz Arena and the Mercedes-Benz sales center on the Anschütz site in Berlin, is a particularly resource-efficient real estate development. The seven-storey building has a GFA of 10,250 square meters. The project commenced in June 2014 and was completed and occupied in September 2015.

Christian Berger, Managing Director of Münchner Grund Immobilien Bauträger GmbH, explains: “With all of our new building projects, as with the design and execution of this development, we ensure that the highest sustainability requirements are met right from the beginning”. He continues: “The Arena Boulevard was already awarded the DGNB silver certificate. We are very pleased that this successful project has now also been crowned with the LEED Platinum certification.”

Sustainability concept optimally implemented

The certification process was overseen by PORR Design & Engineering GmbH. The building performs particularly well in terms of its energy consumption. In addition to this, the building also provides high levels of user-friendliness and indoor air quality as well as a very good selection of fitout materials.

The building is located in the Valeska-Gert-Straße 1, directly beside the famous Mercedes-Benz Arena – vis-à-vis the River Spree – between the Ostbahnhof S-Bahn station and the S-Bahn / underground station Warschauer Straße in the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. In its immediate vicinity lies the HOTEL + OFFICE CAMPUS BERLIN, another successfully completed Münchner Grund development which includes a Holiday Inn hotel with 217 rooms and three modern office buildings with a total of around 22,000 square meters of office space. The main tenant in ARENA BOULEVARD is PORR Germany GmbH with approximately 4,700 square meters of floor space, and Zalando SE with approximately 3,500 square meters.
