UBM Development and CA Immo Germany celebrate topping-out ceremony for the “Flößerhof” at the Mainzer Zollhafen

  • Residential complex with 89 condominiums and 3 townhouses
  • 8,200 square metres of gross floor area with 360-degree waterfront location and high sustainability standards
  • Completion 4th quarter 2023

Mainz, 21 September. The “Flößerhof” building ensemble being developed in a joint venture by CA Immo and UBM is taking shape on the “Hafeninsel” at Mainzer Zollhafen: Today, the topping-out ceremony for the residential complex featuring 89 condominiums and 3 townhouses with a total of 72 underground parking spaces was celebrated in the presence of the Mayor of Mainz, Michael Ebling. The completion of the project not far from Mainz’s creative Neustadt district is scheduled for the end of 2023.

The Flößerhof development consists of six interconnected houses in a U-shaped perimeter block design as well as three harbour houses grouped around an attractively designed inner courtyard. The courtyard is extensively landscaped and forms the heart of the Flößerhof. The ensemble has a gross floor area of 8,200 square metres. Framed by the harbour basin and canals, the ensemble on the harbour island captivates with a 360-degree waterfront location and, with its clinker brick facade, responds to the history and traditional architecture of the Mainz customs port.

Sustainable living by the Rhine – in the Mainzer Neustadt district

Living by the Rhine, in the immediate vicinity of Mainz’s lively Neustadt district: located on a peninsula at the Mainzer Zollhafen, the Flößerhof offers new, urban living space far removed from conventional forms of big-city living. The architecture by blauraum Architekten is rounded off by high sustainability standards: energy-efficient facades, green roofs and retention areas for rainwater in the inner courtyard ensure climate-friendly building operation.

Mayor Michael Ebling is delighted about the future-oriented living space in the Zollhafen neighbourhood development: “The residential ensemble being built here, with its diverse living concepts for young and old, high energy efficiency and pedestrian and bicycle-friendly planning, is a successful example of the creation of sustainable and vibrant living space in the city.”

Werner Huber, Managing Director of UBM Development, says: “The Flößerhof not only meets high sustainability standards, but it also ensures an exceptional quality of stay and quality of life in the private and public areas with its special waterfront location as well as its green courtyard concept.”

The Flößerhof’s strong sustainability-oriented concept is also reflected in the pre-installation of e-charging stations for the 74-car parking spaces in the building’s underground car park and in the 92 bicycle parking spaces also located here. There are also 60 additional bicycle parking spaces in the outdoor area of the ensemble.

For Christoph Jakoby, Head of Development at CA Immo Frankfurt, which is responsible for the development of the Zollhafen district together with Stadtwerke Mainz AG, the Flößerhof fits perfectly into the new Zollhafen: “The Zollhafen combines urban, creative living and working with the special quality of living by the water. The residential concept of the Flößerhof, in which singles, couples and families find a nature-oriented, sustainable and barrier-free living comfort, complements the mixed-use quarter very harmoniously and contributes to the further revitalisation of the harbour island.”

Turgut Tekin, Commercial Branch Manager of Implenia Hochbau GmbH adds: “With durable materials, green roofs as well as the facade featuring classic solid stone cladding that also meets modern energy requirements, we are making an active contribution to the preservation of resources.  The construction of the Flößerhof is progressing with great strides. We are delighted about this milestone!”
